How to Play

Getting Started

Step 1

Create Your Account

At the login screen, type new and press Enter. Type y and press Enter to confirm.

Choose an account name and password when prompted. Your account name does not have to match any of your character names.

Step 2

Create a Character

From the account menu, type new and then y when asked to confirm.

Choose your character's name and follow the prompts through character creation.

Step 3

Enter Tirradyn

Your new character will begin in the Newbie Area, where you will find Tirradyn's MUD School.

We strongly recommend completing MUD School. It introduces important commands, gameplay concepts, and features specific to Tirradyn.

Build Your Character

Choices such as race, class, guild, and religion help shape your character's gameplay and place in the world. You can explore your options before or during character creation.

While creating your character, you can also use the CREATION channel to see if someone is available to help.

Movement Basics

Tirradyn is explored by entering movement commands. Most directions can be abbreviated to a single letter. Type L to look at your surroundings again. You will need to press Enter after each command.

Speedwalk tip: The diagonal shortcuts R, T, F, and G can also be used in speedwalks.

Number Pad

A common numeric keypad movement layout uses 7 for Northwest, 8 for North, 9 for Northeast, 4 for West, 6 for East, 1 for Southwest, 2 for South, and 3 for Southeast. The center 5 key is not assigned a movement direction here.

Many traditional MUD clients support numeric-keypad movement. Exact shortcuts and additional keypad bindings may vary by client.

The Tirradyn webclient provides clickable controls for all movement directions, including Up and Down, as well as Look.
